My Students

I am entering my second year of teaching at a Title I school in Norfolk, Virginia, where every student at our school receives free breakfast and the majority receive free or reduced-price lunch. I teach a diverse group of learners who are not only diverse in their academic needs but also in their cultures, socioeconomic status, and more.

My class is full of polite, hardworking children whose worlds have been turned upside down, thanks to COVID-19.

Being at school will be very different this year, but I want to provide them with as much normalcy as possible.

My Project

My school provides free lunch to all students. A lot of my students rely on the school for both breakfast and lunch.

These snackboxes would allow me to create snack packages for each of my students to have at home on the weekends/days off.

These packages would allow my students to have access to snacks for both themselves and their family members. I know that the donations would be greatly appreciated by both my students and their families as it would lessen the financial burden they face, even if it is just a small way.
