My Students

I have the privilege of serving an outstanding group of gifted elementary school students from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Although located in a formerly affluent community in the suburbs of Atlanta, our school is a Title I institution. My school provides instruction to a population of students where about 95% come from low socioeconomic circumstances. With that in mind, the bulk of my students receive free or reduced lunch as well as income adjusted tuition for our after school program.

My students are immensely intelligent and talented, however they do not always get the opportunities to amplify these attributes due to financial constraints and limited resources.

I can only imagine the things that my students would be capable of, if it were not for the adverse socioeconomic circumstances that they deal with on a daily basis!

My Project

The Junior Beta Convention will give our students an opportunity to express their academic and creative abilities through various competitions and activities. Our students are preparing to perform in an array of competitions, including T-Shirt Design, an Academic Bowl, Poster Presentations, Robotics, and Structural Engineering.

Our students will get to experience an environment that fosters academic exposure and achievement while simultaneously enjoying themselves at the Junior Beta Convention.

Many of our students have limited experience with traveling, therefore having the opportunity to experience a new city and its historical significance will also be an advantage of this trip for our students!
