My Students

Our elementary school is located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Our school is located downtown and is identified as an urban setting.

Poverty is an issue for many of the families that attend our school.

100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. On Fridays, families have the option to receive a Power Pack to take home over the weekend so the students have easy snacks and lunches to eat.

The population is extremely diverse. Over 50% of our families are Hispanic. A majority of our students do not speak English as their first language. This creates educational obstacles for both the students and teachers to overcome.

My Project

Our goal is to create six exciting buckets based on popular themes to motivate the students to do their best during testing. The students will earn coupons for using test taking strategies, arriving to school on time, and doing their best on the PSSA exams this year. These coupons will earn students chances to win a prize bucket.

The buckets will vary on interest.

We want a Minecraft, Slime, Science, Sports, Art, and STEM Activity kits. The items ordered through Amazon will help make this idea come true!

The PSSA's occur for two weeks in our school. The teachers will reward the students daily for their hard work. By the end of state testing, the students will earn many chances to take home one of these awesome prizes during a celebratory assembly.
