The students at TS will be receiving coupons during the week of PSSA's. The students will receive coupons for using their test taking strategies, following directions, and arriving to school on time. The teachers will reward the students daily for their hard work by handing out coupons. The students at my school do not have the luxury of receiving presents often. Many of these families live in poverty, and the possibility of receiving presents thrill them! We have found over the years, that the students respond well to big prizes. We want to create 6 large prize buckets to excite the students to do their best. Our prizes include a gumball machine bank, which will allow the students to explore math concepts. Also, we would like to create a bucket on Minecraft and Trolls. The Minecraft bucket will include legos for building and books for reading. The Trolls bucket will include a movie and art supplies to help them be creative. The goal of these prizes is to create an environment of excitement the week of the PSSA's and help motivate the students to do their best.
