This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an eighth-grade teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district. I have a class of wonderful eighth graders that consists of English language learners, special education students, and general education students who come from various ethnic backgrounds. Despite the many challenges my students face, my students come to school eager to learn and strive to do better. They ask questions and are not afraid to take risks or make mistakes.

My students are creative and active eighth graders who are passionate about their work and projects.

I want to give my amazing students the skills and tools to be their very best selves.

My Project

Coming to school each day with a clean body (head to toe) can be such a confidence booster! Deodorant can help this because it is such a major part of keeping clean. This is a time in my students lives where their bodies are experiencing changes and hormones are in full force. It's hard enough being a middle schooler, imagine not having the basic hygienic needs to keep clean. If I could give them a place to have their basic needs met it would make it easier for them to focus on their schooling instead of if others around them can smell them. To think that students don't have the bare necessities to keep healthy is so upsetting.

This project will provide my students with the boost of confidence that they deserve because they are truly amazing human beings.

With your help, we can help them feel comfortable in their own skin and feel that they will always have a place to go to when they are unable to get their basic life essentials and a place where they will never be judged. We need your help to ensure we can get these much needed items for our students so they can begin each day fresh, clean and confident!
