Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to have more tech tools in the classroom to assist smaller groups with personalized learning. Setting up stations in a high school requires a lot of printing, setup, and cleanup. Having larger screens throughout the classroom, allows me to move around, helping specific group members, all while keeping our technology organized! No more having to click through several tabs to accommodate two large groups.

Students can work in groups, clearly see their learning goal, accomplish their given task, and have a smart board to interact with that provides them with the necessary tools and resources (an article, presentation, etc.).

Our current classroom projector screens are small, prompting students to use their cell phones to take a picture, and zoom in to read the text/see images.

Another issue we are experiencing is screen visibility. Students want to be off their phones. However, when the sun hits the screen and presentations can barely be seen during class, students become disengaged.

My students are curious, intelligent, and want to interact with lessons in a modern way. Having a smart board allows high school students to engage with me, their teaching, as I am near the screen and can easily reach annotation tools.

Another important point is accessibility! Text can be made larger quicker. The screen can be rolled closer to students. But also, I am short! I’m 5’1 and it is a struggle to make use of the whiteboard and the projector! I simply do not reach. This board will help everyone out so much.
