Smart Farming With Coding

Help me give my students Smart Farming kits to learn coding with a purpose.

My Project

My students love to code and have recently learned how to code using micro:bits. They love combining their coding projects with their STEM creations. Recently, a student asked if we could combine micro:bits and gardening. Guess what? We can - with your amazing generosity!

Please help my students learn about the use of technology in agriculture and how advancements in modern farming are supporting climate action.

With the Smart Farming kits, my students will get hands-on experience in building their own hydroponics systems and then code their systems with Microsoft MakeCode using micro:bits to monitor moisture levels in the soil.

As my students learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, they are realizing they too can become world changers. With this project, my students will learn about sustainable actions as well as create a plan to design an indoor garden to help combat hunger in our community. I cannot wait to see how my students work in inclusive collaborative groups to design solutions for a better tomorrow.
