Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of the most resilient, hardworking, and creative individuals I have ever met. They come to school every day ready to tackle challenges, despite living in a high-poverty area where resources are often scarce.

They aren't just students; they are future engineers, architects, and problem-solvers.

However, many of them come to class without the basic tools they need to practice their skills. They deserve a classroom that feels abundant and supportive, rather than one defined by what they lack.

In our math small groups, we move fast and dive deep. To truly master numbers, my students need to move beyond abstract worksheets and get hands-on. Students will use these materials daily

My goal is to create a "Success Station" where my students have everything they need to master math concepts. Here is how each resource will be used:

Noise-Canceling Headphones: In a busy classroom, the noise of other groups can be a major barrier for students who struggle to concentrate. These headphones will provide a "quiet zone," allowing my students to find their flow and focus entirely on their math tasks without distraction.

Organized File Holders: We lose so much time looking for papers! These holders will give each student a dedicated place for their work-in-progress, teaching them vital organizational skills and ensuring that our 20-minute small group time is spent learning, not searching.

Dry-Erase (EXPO) Markers & Fun Pencils: It sounds simple, but having a "special" pencil or a bright marker makes a student excited to pick up a tool and start working. High-quality EXPO markers allow us to use whiteboards for quick checks, making math feel like a game rather than a chore.
