My students come from a variety of backgrounds and they speak various languages. I find that my students need books that they are interested in and can read fluently.
At my school 85% of our student population live in poverty and 75% of our population are English language learners.
Our students have emotional and social issues due to language, poverty and cultural barriers. Looking at and reading books is a way to develop language with my students and make connections with them. We are trying to close the opportunity gap for students as well as the reading level gap. Our
Our students will benefit from these resources in that teachers will teach them these strategies. This purchase would allow teachers to use these resources to teach small group lessons to improve learning. These lessons allow for teachers to meet students where they are in their learning.
My Project
I am requesting books my students can read with their teacher and classmates during small group work time to work on foundational reading skills. We hope to use these books and assessment to help teachers learn about their readers and what they need to work on to improve their reading. The books will allow students to practice their reading and teachers can use the assessments to match their students with books that they are able to read.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and they each have their own reading goals to work on from the assessments that teachers administer.
These materials will allow teachers to use books with students as well as know what goals they can set with their students.
