Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Sixth graders are full of enthusiasm and exuberance for all their daily discoveries. They learn from all of the spaces around them. Our classroom has chairs and tables for students to work at, as well as, a very worn small group carpet. Attention and focus are precious and having comfortable inviting spaces will allow us to focus on our learning. Each one of these supplies will eliminate distractions and increase time for learning.

By partnering to create several comfortable working spaces in our classroom you are making the hard work of learning to read more focused and flexible to each student's needs.

We will be able to have a carpet space to work in small groups, complete book club nooks, and listen to stories together. They will also be able to sit in the reading nook on a comfy futon while they extend their reading strategies.
