Special Education teacher needs to create a small area in a general education classroom to work with those students who need the most help. I am a special education teacher in a collaborative team teaching classroom in a high-need urban community. I teach 22 second graders of which seven have special needs.
As an inclusion classroom, there are general education and special education students in one room with two teachers. There are times, I need to be able to pull out from the general class a few students who have special learning needs and provide individualized instruction to them. My classroom is large enough to accommodate two meeting areas. However, supplies are provided to us for only one meeting area. I am currently trying to teach to my small group using a child sized white board that is approximately the size of an 8.5 x 11 sheet. These students are visual learners and really benefit from things being explicitly drawn out for them.
I am looking for an adjustable easel that can be used as a white board and a chart paper holder in order to teach my small group. The easel also needs to be height adjustable so that when I have my small group seated at a kidney shaped table, we can also have use of the easel.
You can make it possible for my struggling students to try to catch up to their peers. Please help me help them make the leaps they need and deserve.
