My Students

Moving to a new area is never easy. Imagine moving to a new place and, in addition to having to make new friends and learn new routines, you now have to learn a whole new language on top of it! Now add the challenge of learning to read and write in your new language.

I work in a Title I school with a high population of English language learners, many of whom are new to the country and speak little to no English.

All of my students are enthusiastic about being in school and have a true want to learn about their new homes and their new language. In addition, they all work hard to achieve academic success!

My Project

Small groups and student interations are critical in early learning. Students learn best from one another and need an designated area that this can happen. The use of a small table in the independent and centers area will facilitate peer discussions while helping the students be organized. The table will also help students who are not comfortable sitting on the floor and need the elevation in oder to succeed.

With this addition into our rotations, students can facilitate their own learning while managing materials.

Learning to work together and being organized is a critical skill that the table can help facilitate in our classroom.
