This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Studies show that students show growth in language by interacting with their peers and actually “talking” to each other. As the year ends I want to continue to have my students practice the English Language. Social interaction provides students with a dynamic environment where they can apply and reinforce linguistic knowledge and learn from their peers. My school is a Title I-funded campus; we are a border city. The majority of my students are newcomers to the English language. Every year my goal as a bilingual teacher is to get them to succeed in the English Language.
And what better way than to practice the English Language with a fun and messy experience....SLIME PARTY!!!
Every year, my classroom consists of a wide range of students with different abilities and interests. Some of the materials I am requesting are hands on activities such as slime ingredients and puzzles to get them to their English levels by interacting with their peers. Students can utilize materials being requested to actively collaborate with their peers, fostering a dynamic learning environment. These will be a great tool to use with bilingual, and newcomers to the English Language. Children develop a better understanding of English when they study a new language by interacting in something that intrests them such as slime, and puzzles. They become more aware of grammar, conjugation and sentence structures as they hear their peers speaking. This helps them understand how English works, enhances their comprehension and accelerates their ability to read and write.
