This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is the future. Help my students reach their capabilities using technology to communicate with other students who come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

My Special Education middle school students live in a major urban environment, with families from many different countries, speaking dozens of different languages.

They're also faced with having gangs in the area and low incomes. With today's budget cuts my students will never get a chance to use new technology devices.

My Project

The laptop we are requesting will help my students research cultures from all around the world. They'll be able to communicate with new friends (with Skype, Facebook, etc.) and learn about many new things (and perhaps realize that they really aren't that different!). Hopefully they will be able to create a new multicultural world for us all.

What better way to make new friends than with the amazing world wide web?

Most of my students cannot afford their own computers, so this will give them the opportunity to start the process.
