My Project
Having quality drawing boards will allow my students to work on their sketching and art pieces outside and at home. The drawing and painting students spend the entire school year developing original art pieces and doing bi-weekly sketching activities using a variety of drawing and painting media. During the bi-weekly sketching (which focuses on specific academic vocabulary and skills) and art piece creation process, students share their work and ideas. Additionally, students do small group peer and self-critiques of finished sketches and art pieces, all of this peer-to-peer interaction and support is very beneficial to their social skills and emotional well-being. Being able to work on art pieces and sketches outside allows being creative while in a very peaceful and important setting for human beings, nature. This is also beneficial to the emotional well-being of my students. Lastly, being able to provide my students with a drawing board to work at home when they need extra time to get caught up and finish their art pieces gives them a clean smooth working area and protects their artwork as they travel. This gives students the opportunity to achieve their academic learning goals each quarter as sometimes class time is simply not enough time to finish their artwork.
