Help my students become "Memory Keepers" by unlocking their creativity and retain important information through the practice of using a sketchbook. Sketchbooks will improve their memory and art skills. My students are excited to come to art club to express themselves in many different styles of art. Visual art is a subject that lends itself to understanding one's world. Vincent Van Gogh stated that "My sketchbook is a witness of what I am experiencing, scribbling things whenever they happen." This I hope for my art club students, feeling free to express themselves in a sketchbook.
Sketchbooks are an important part of the art process.
It is where artists record, draw, organize and plan out their ideas. Sketchbooks help students work with spontaneity, without worries or judgements. It is a place to practice a specific technique or draw out an experience or emotion. It allows the learner to be involved in the art process and helps calm the mind.
There are many benefits to keeping a sketchbook. Students can practice line work, value shading and color relationships. In addition, they will practice perseverance and working through mistakes. This is an important aspect of the creative process. This record keeping is a process that increases their memory about specific topics and experiences.
Please help my art club become memory keepers through the use of a sketchbook.
