I teach visual arts in an inner city school district. My students are a diversified group in economics, ethnicity and languages. Students have found a way to create and communicate on a variety of levels, even though their native languages are different. English learners need to quickly meld into a new way of life and learning. English speakers are empathetic and help non-English learners transition into our school culture. Using 21st century skills in the art room is a helpful experience for real world future events.
