This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Although I have not met my students yet, I am looking forward to experiencing a wonderful school year with them. As a first grade teacher, I have interacted with many of these students while they were in kindergarten. These children look so eager to move up to first grade. As I walk through the hallway, my future students wave to me with excitement. Many love talking to me about their academics, behavior, and personal experiences.
I look forward to teaching a class with such bright, caring, and bubbly personalities.
In addition, I have taught some of their siblings in previous years. As a result, a lot of the students wish to be in my class like their big brother or sister. As I talk to many of the students, I can tell they have a love for learning. During the 2018-2019 school year we will have many rewarding experiences that will never be forgotten!
My Project
Having these stools for my upcoming class will change the classroom environment. Throughout the years my classes have used the standard orange chairs. Many students sat uncomfortably at their desk, slouched over, making it hard to concentrate. Other students wobbled in their chairs due to uneven chair legs. The biggest issue was students continuously leaning back in their chairs, which made me concerned for students' safety.
With these stools my students will be able to focus their attention on the learning process instead of the old unreliable chairs.
This new seating arrangement will also allow my students to be comfortable. This is very important to my first graders since they spend most of their day in my classroom. These stools will be used at the students' desks. Using stools in the classroom will give students more space throughout the room for learning activities such as centers, games, projects, etc. It is my dream to give my students the chance to have the best learning environment that they deserve. With these classroom stools I know my students will be able to accomplish whatever they choose to for the academic year!
