Sitting Snug on the Classroom Rug!

Help me give my students a classroom rug, spill-proof paint cups, a classroom set of clipboards and some tempera paint!

My Students

Our students have a thirst to learn but not the supplies they need to be successful! I do not have the funding I need to teach my 750 students to my best ability! As an activity teacher, it is my job to teach all grades from PK until 5th grade.

While teaching every grade is sometimes difficult, each grade is so rewarding in its own way!

My students have a general enthusiasm for learning. They love art! And more importantly, we don't just learn about art. We learn about famous artists and where each one is from. I combine geography, culture and history into every lesson. The kids love it. In particular, they love to learn about modern artists such as Banksy or Andy Warhol.

My Project

While I teach all grades, my class is only set up for the older students! My younger kids are much too small for our big tables and chairs, so each day we start the class off on the rug instead. On the rug we do various activities, such as learning instructions for the day, reading a book about art, or even sketch together before we move to the tables!

The two rugs I bought for our classroom have almost completely fallen apart and my students are constantly distracted by the fraying edges!

The rug I've requested is soil resistance against odor, mildew and mold. It is double-stitched so edges won’t unravel. And best of all, it is organized so that every student has their own colored spot!

It would be so wonderful to spend less time talking about the rug so that we can have more time to learn! I have also asked for clipboards so that we can easily draw while sitting. And lastly, I asked for some paint refills and spill-proof cups.
