My Project

When I think of a learning environment, I think of a home away from home, a place where you go to learn, a safe space and a comfortable space. My classroom represents all of that and I want to be able to provide that for my students. My students are in a ESE self contained setting and academic struggles along with internal struggles requires a area for decompressing those daily struggles.

I have requested a new classroom carpet that will be used in our calm area.

This area is an area where they feel safe, an area where they can take a much needed break and return to learning after they have decompress. My students are learning The Zones of Regulations. The Zones of Regulation allows them to identify their feelings and their emotions. Each represented with a color. When the students are in a zone that prevents them from learning. The calming area is one of 4 strategies that they can implement to get in a zone that allows learning.
