I am a third grade teacher at a public school. All students receive free breakfast and lunch at my Title 1 school. My students are excited about learning and want to excel in school. They come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. Some have autism, ADD, or ADHD but all of the children have a strong desire to learn. I have a large range of learning abilities in my classroom and everyone is encouraged to start from where they are and to grow!
My Project
My students love to learn and work so hard, but their first question after I give them an assignment is always "Can I move to a table?" What they are really saying is "please don't make me sit at this desk any longer!" They are 8 and 9 years old, they need to have more options than to just sit at a desk or a table all day.
By adding these portable lap desks to our room they will now have options.
They could do their work on the carpet, or even move to a quiet corner so they can better focus. They could work in pairs or small groups. The possibilities are endless!
