My Students

I will be teaching a group of 25 first graders at a new elementary charter school this year. Each of our classrooms are designed to be a different place in the community.  Our adventure will take place in the “park”.  These kiddos will have lots of wiggles as they are excited about our learning throughout the day.

Their little minds and bodies are ever-growing and moving.  

Each child learns in a different capacity and rate.  Flexible seating will allow them to find a place in the classroom where they experience their best learning.  Furnishing our “park” with flexible seating options will allow our classroom to be full of limitless opportunities, where students’ days will be filled with fun, excitement and imagination.

My Project

Flexible seating will allow my students opportunities to choose their own seat in our classroom where they feel most comfortable learning. During independent work times and center work, students will be able to use the materials in this project as additional seating options that will allow them choice.

Children need to move throughout the day and flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand.

The products that I am asking for in my project include wobble chairs and balance ball seats. The wobble chairs will allow students to wiggle and wobble while sitting, without tipping over. The balance balls will also allow movement that include balancing which will reduce restlessness and improve student focus.
