This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My musical tigers are students in our Title I school family. They are very eager to learn and love to move with, experience, and create music! Children on our campus are willing to take ownership of their learning process. Our tigers deserve to feel a sense of ownership and leadership. Many do not have much at home to which they feel this sense of ownership. My children learn best when they are able to use hands-on tools and creatively collaborate with peers. This open creativity allows my students to make their learning more concrete. Due to high numbers in our music classroom (around 40 students), we are required to be very creative with our extremely limited resources. Servicing a variety of diverse classrooms, including several Spanish speaking and special education classrooms is a challenge and tools that help our ESL and special needs students learn in a safe and successful environment.

My Project

Our tigers are hands-on learners and LOVE to be leaders. This digital audio mixer will allow our students to take control of their own productions! We put on multiple productions throughout the year as well as host meetings and special events in our cafeteria. Our current sound system does not allow for easy access in the event of a microphone mishap!

I cannot wait to see my students' face when THEY get chosen to be a part of our student-led the production team for their own musical!!

This digital mixer is controlled by an iPad which allows the student-led production team can control the volume of music, microphones, and truly lend a hand in their own productions. Giving them this experience will open their eyes to the possibility of future careers in music, the arts, engineering, and any digital science field! This is something we have DREAMED for so we can get our students, parents, and community more involved in our school and our special events.
