My Students

The students that I have the privilege of working with are all English Language Learners. They are the greatest group of kids and I love teaching them and learning from them. They work very hard to be successful, both academically and in their language learning.

My Project

The SIOP training being offered has been a long time coming. Our local Cooperative for Educational Services has been working with The Center for Applied Linguistics to have this training offered to EL teachers and coordinators in our area. This training provides educators, already trained in the use of SIOP, with the tools and skills to continue the education of other teachers and administrators in using the SIOP method for planning and instruction. This method employs comprehensible input, building background knowledge, vocabulary instruction, language and content standards, and much more in order to provide Multilingual Learners with an equitable education, both in the EL classroom and the general education classroom. By attending this training, I will be in a position to provide training to the other teachers in my building, and beyond, in the appropriate use of the SIOP method, benefiting not only the Multilingual Learners, but all learners in the classroom.
