This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredibly dedicated and hard-working, but out growing choral program is severely underfunded. Choir binders are a necessary tool for the organization and preservation of our choir music. I have used folders as a temporary substitute, but these are often cheaply made, do not promote proper posture for singing, and are not designed to hold multiple song selections, much less include additional paper resources that will help reinforce our choral TEKS and teach valuable organizational skills.

My choir students have achieved notable success in the past couple of years, despite facing significant challenges.

In their first year competing, they earned the coveted Sweepstakes award in 2021, and then doubled their success by 2022—earning two out of only three Sweepstakes awards earned by middle school choirs in our entire school district! Having access to an organized choir binder would immensely facilitate their continued success and growth. Much like our choir binders will help hold our learning materials and resources in place, choir binds us together! Help keep the fine arts alive and thriving!
