Singin' in the Rain Jr. Nursing Home Touring Show

Help me give my students the tools they need. Our district does not always have these materials readily available; therefore, the bulbs will allow for adequate lighting, the gaffer tape will hold the set boards together while traveling.

My Students

I teach a fabulous group of theatre-loving students in Northwest Arkansas. Though my students love the performance art of theatre, many have little to no experience with musicals.

My students are savage risk takers who gladly take on the role of a snake, a tree, Orpheus, Eurydice, or mime their way through conflict resolution when needed.

They work to eliminate stage fright and and stomp out fear one scene at a time.

To amplify their skill set, students are currently working on skills in musical theatre.

My Project

The items I've requested will help my students experience musical theatre on their own, not just through a video. The items I've requested will help us tell the story of Singin the Rain.

The par 56 bulbs will replace old equipment and the gaffer tape will allow for easy movement of set pieces.

The sharpies will be used to draw the images for our backdrops onto black UIL boards. This will helps us recreate the scene and feeling of old Hollywood.

After this production, items will be used for future productions. It's wonderful to watch student's excitement about these items. It actually validate's their work and performance efforts.

I've seen musical theatre, including the technical elements, change how students see their school and more importantly themselves.
