Singers Need to Rehearse on their Own

My students can learn their music faster! I teach grades 9-12 choral music. We have beginning, intermediate, and advanced choirs in our rural high school.

Our choral department receives no funding from our school system. Most of our fundraising money goes toward music, festival fees, transportation costs, and other necessities for the course.

We need a small, digital recorder to use for recording vocal parts onto Cd's. This quick method of recording will allow our students, from beginning to advanced, to record their individual vocal parts onto their ipod or a cd for out of class rehearsal. They are required to have at least one hour of home practice on their own each week. This device will also allow us to record our rehearsals for immediate feedback, which helps the students hear the quality of their current level of performance.

Your contribution will give individual students the tools to learn music more quickly on their own, and it will give our choirs a means of self evaluation during rehearsals. As it is, our current sound system is not practical enough to set up in the classroom for spontaneous use. A digital recording device will increase our choral department's use of technology to enhance our students daily performance and rehearsal.
