My Project

This year my students were finally able to do their first LIVE theatrical performance. Our school was built two years ago and we were unable to do live performances throughout the pandemic. Drama Club is a free, after-school program thanks to an initial donation from our PTO. We are lucky enough to be able to continue this amazing opportunity for students in the future through donations and small scale fundraising.

Imagine that you are standing on stage and it's your moment to shine, but when you speak the audience doesn't hear the words you have been faithfully working on for the past four months.

Despite our best efforts, the high cost of royalties for our show usually allows us to just break even from year to year, rarely leaving us with the funding to purchase extra necessities such as microphones. Our "stage" is a gym and the acoustics are brutal on young voices. Even with the school's one overhead mic and two lapel mics that we currently own, my students struggle to make their voices heard from the stage.
