Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a charter school, located in Southern California. Over 90% of the population is Latino/Hispanic and receive free and reduced lunch. Due to a shortage of funds, teachers and parents have to purchase everything.
My students students are bright, respectful, and eager to learn.
There are many resources my students go without in their education, but basic supplies like crayons and books should not be some of those things.
When our project gets funded we will immediately put supplies to great use.
My Project
At the beginning of the year students brought in a new box of crayons that they have used everyday for the past 6 months in all subjects. From coloring pictures for a math story problem, to illustrating their daily journal writing. Their crayons and have heavily used and are in real need of fresh set. With your help students will be able to continue to brighten their work using crayons.
My first grade students are becoming amazing readers and we are in real need of adding more titles to our classroom library. Every time students try and successfully read a new book they get a sticker as a reward. I am hoping my project gets funded so I can continue to provide an incentive.
I want to create a learning environment in my classroom where students focus on the fun of learning.
I don't want my students to have a strong awareness of a lack of supplies. It is challenging at times especially when they don't have something as basic as crayons. Please help my students get some basic supplies.
