Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderfully energetic group of Second Graders. My students love to explore and learn. They are bright young learners with big hearts. My students come into my classroom every morning with a bright smile and are excited to learn. They are the greatest group of kids, and I am so blessed to be their teacher.
We need some help!
Our school is in a low-income area and serves many students who receive free or reduced lunch. In addition, many students in our school speak English as a second language. We have a lot of needs as a school and as a classroom.
My Project
My students need new center games to enforce the literacy skills learned in class. Literacy centers are designed to provide appropriate materials to help students work independently or collaboratively (with partners or in small groups) to meet literacy goals. The reading comprehension games will help each student learn these skills in a fun way. My students also need new headphones for the classroom so they all can have ones that work well.
Students are more engaged and excited to learn when games are involved.
My students also need new chair pads to sit on as well as storage for the classroom. During snack time, most of the students are not able to bring snack, so having animal crackers will help provide them with snack. We also need new prize box prizes to encourage them to try their best and be able to earn these new prizes. My students can also use a new charging station for the technology center to keep things organized. The math workbook will be used to review math we already learned and practice math problems we are currently learning.
