Simple Machines for Complex Minds!

My Students

My class of 30+ students reflects a wide range of cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and academic abilities. Our school sits on the outskirts of a large metropolitan area and does not currently have an adopted science curriculum. My students are wildly curious about the world around them and love the opportunity to learn through hands-on experimentation. It is great to see their eyes light up when they have the chance to test out scientific theories and explore their own hypotheses.

My Project

This wonderful set of sturdy, wooden models will provide my current and future students with much needed hands-on materials while we studying the science of forces. Our school does not currently have a science curriculum and our class must usually adapt existing materials to try to emulate some the simple machines that we read about.

Having this complete set of simple machine models will free up hours of prep time that we can use instead to focus on actually conducting STEM activities.

Also, because these models are so sturdy, they will encourage play and experimentation without the constant worry of damage.
