My Project

We do a great deal of cooperative learning in Algebra I. We use differentiated, collaborative lessons to help students find and correct common misconceptions. They present their work and share it with their classmates. Many of my students do not have their supplies or at least "fun" supplies! Giving students colored pens and colorful poster paper to present their work makes learning math more fun! These supplies will go a long way to help my Algebra I students SHOW WHAT THEY KNOW!

Many of my students come from households that don't have extra money to spend on supplies. When I pull out the colored pens and markers, my students get excited! Yes, high school students love using colored pens! We also SHOW WHAT WE KNOW on whiteboards. My students love using colored Expo markers. Sometimes, they use multiple colors to highlight important steps or keep track of the variable. I am incorporating strategies from "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics". Students work in small groups on vertical whiteboards to discover and understand mathematics. We use a lot of Expo Markers! I have the whiteboards, magnetic marker holders, and erasers. Your donation will complete what we need to SHOW WHAT WE KNOW!
