Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are unique and come to the classroom with tons of energy and creative ideas that make for a stimulating classroom. Many of my students come from a community that is filled with many social and family challenges.

Many times, my classroom is the only haven in which students can express their inner most thoughts and carry out artistic expression.

I teach at a Title I school in Washington, D.C where 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

This project will reach 28 students and will help me stay organized in the classroom! The project will include diverse, inclusion, and multicultural learners. The chart paper and markers will be used to create meaningful anchor charts for math and science, the two subjects I teach. Students love seeing anchor charts hung up around the classroom, and they continually use them as resources during our lessons.

One way to make math concepts tangible and accessible is by using chart paper and dry erase boards to help display students' work.

Having the students display their work in the classroom provides a sense of pride and accomplishment because they are able to use their own thinking to create the anchor charts which show their work.
