My Students
All of my students come to me because they are below grade level in reading. My goal, as their reading teacher, is not only to teach my students HOW to read, but also to ENJOY reading.
My students are bright, energetic, fun, young second graders. We are situated in a sub-urban setting with a high poverty rate. I believe that many of my students have not been provided with interesting or exciting reading material at a beginner's level.
My Project
I will excite and motivate my students to WANT to read by providing high interest reading material at their reading level. My students will enjoy reading books about their favorite movie characters, superheroes, and the world around them! My students will learn that reading is not a chore, but instead learn that it is fun and rewarding.
Reading these books will improve my students' reading ability, confidence, and attitude. I will see students MOTIVATED to read! My students will become better readers and better students. I will see improvements in reading accuracy, fluency, decoding skills, and comprehension.
