Help me give my students a different view of the examples and tools we're using in this virtual world. As we move into virtual/hybrid education, more tools are required to help students see what was easily seen before.

My Students

My students mostly come from an extremely diverse and unique set of circumstances. Most of my students tackle adult struggles at a younger age and are faced with challenges when they leave the safe environment provided at school. I teach students of all races from many countries around the world.

Because of this diversity, my students bring a vast array of experiences and stories to share, but few supplies or resources.

Although their stories have provided lots of learning experiences for me over the years, their lack of supplies has required me to spend a great deal of my own money on providing basic things. Each year I do a project with my chemistry students where they bring in a recipe they make at home and I've been blessed to try a large variety of delicious treats from around the world. My students change my perceptions of things all the time and I'm truly blessed to share this experience with them!

My Project

In this virtual/hybrid learning environment, we need more screens and tools than ever before to help our student access what we could model for them relatively easily in person. This iPad and pencil will help me be able to model examples more easily for my students than using my computer. It will help me to be able to record those examples for students who might miss class or need another review later on as they're studying for a test/quiz. When we do finally return to our classrooms, an iPad will help students be able to visualize their thinking for the entire classroom and spark conversations about various approaches to problem solving and real world problems.
