My students need a whiteboard/literacy organization system and two more Chromebooks to assist with enhancing knowledge and instruction in the classroom.
I want my students to come to school ready and excited to learn, each day! I want my classroom environment to be conducive to 21st-century skills as well as supporting real-world learning. As a former life skills teacher, I understand the relevance and importance of real-world skills and technology in the classroom.
I work in a K-5 elementary school in Harrisburg.
We have students with various backgrounds and abilities. I come from a special education background, and I love to work with students in small groups. Through the use of our curriculum and lesson planning efforts, I am able to rotate students into guided stations. I try to find ways to meet my students with varying abilities in my classroom.
The 22 students in my classroom deserve the best and deserve to have the best materials when learning throughout the day.
My Project
Having a literacy organizer with a whiteboard will assist all guided and direct groups in reading and math in order for students to be able to successfully see and understand what their expectations and assignments are. During guided reading, the students could use the whiteboard to assist with vocabulary and comprehension as well as keep all literacy materials neat and organized. The whiteboard and organization station will also be helpful in guided math groups and rotations. Students will be able to see and store math manipulatives in order to have the maximum opportunity to use all modes of learning.
Technology is changing the way we learn and the way we communicate.
The accessibility of technology is a struggle for some, therefore, having the resources to assist students by having readily available technology in the classroom, would change the learning and classroom environment. My students would benefit from the use of technology in the classroom which is why additional Chromebooks will be very helpful to students. Chromebooks are helpful because they are small and have the capabilities of a tablet as well as a laptop. My students use technology to complete Google docs, glogsters, quizlet activities, etc. Students will be able to become more involved in the lessons if more resources are available to them.
