My Students

I am the K-2 Title One reading teacher in a low income southwest Missouri school district. I work with approximately 30 students, either individually or in small groups.

I love working with the youngest struggling readers who usually still have the "love of learning".

Their potential for learning can only go up if I can help them see the relevance of how learning to read is a vital life-long skill.

I do a variety of reading assessments to help guide my instruction and also collaborate with the classroom teachers. I strive to use many multi-sensory strategies to address my students' many learning needs.

My Project

I would like some tack strips so I can SHOW my students work. Anchor charts are an important part of my students learning and I need more places for them to be seen.

Children are naturally excited when they get to talk into a microphone to TELL stories and share their work.

I want something to hold their attention and motivate them and keep them excited when they tell their stories. The quiet students can be heard and they will not fill like they are shouting. We borrowed a microphone from another teacher and they loved using it when we were doing guided reading.
