My students need Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Practice Cards and Small-Group Nonfiction Comprehension Folders that focus on specific topics to be successful readers of academic textbooks.
Our classroom this year includes twenty-three students with a variety of learning styles and academic enthusiasm. We are an urban school district. The students need to be consistently encouraged and motivated to stay on task, follow directions, and always do their best work in order to be successful.
Student success is powerful!
When each student has individual goals and learning activities developed with the production of the maximum time on task, learning increases.
My Project
My students will use these requested Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Practice Cards and Small-Group Nonfiction Comprehension Folders to enhance their learning of the many topics they love and enjoy. We will use these passages in small reading groups and they will provide a short high interest passage in order to familiarize my students with the many features of nonfiction textbooks.
These passages and folders will help the students learn the nonfiction text features and structures they need to in order to better comprehend the topics in short small group settings.
The folders and cards are level appropriate and can be used to supplement the core reading curriculum we use. At a glance, they are loaded with the pictures, facts, and graphics that students love and will increase their nonfiction comprehension skills.
The Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Practice Cards include three levels to "keep children challenged and engaged" in the learning. Short, interesting, challenging, and engaging are all ingredients for great learning! As a teacher who is just as excited about learning as the students I teach, what a "sweet" sound!
