Three or four years ago our middle school was a pretty tough place to be. Our enrollment was dropping and parents were sending their students elsewhere. The school was in disrepair. Over the past four years, many changes have taken place. Our school was made a magnet school. Lots of painting took place. Enrollment leveled off and began to rise a little.
Our students now are a smiling, boisterous bunch.
They walk through the hallways with happy greetings for their teachers and their peers.
They reach out for connections and interaction. They show a lot of respect for their teachers, school and community. They have blossomed under the small gift of a safe and clean school.
Our students receive 'nighthawk bucks' for participating in class and for random acts of kindness. These bucks emphasize and draw attention to the best moments of a student's day. Right now students can use these bucks to purchase non material things like homework passes, a front of the line pass or uniform passes.
We want to make students' best moments even better!
We want to get the whole school excited about our best little moments with a stocked school store. This means that we will be able to focus even more attention on the kind and good things students do everyday. Students would be able to used their bucks to purchase useful items that many teens need, like personal hygiene items.
