This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This school serves a low income, hardworking community in Central Arkansas. My students are from the inner city, and 97% are from high poverty and low socioeconomic neighborhoods. We have three basketball teams consisting of girls grades 6 through 8, 6th grade boys, and 7 and 8 grade boys. The group of players on my teams are caring, determined, and hard working.
Our student population is diverse, and our scholars embrace their diversity with enthusiasm, and an eagerness to help each other to understand things that make them different.
We always strive to let our students know that regardless of the adversities they may face in life, they can do anything they desire if they put their minds and bodies into what they want to achieve.
A lot of our student-athletes live and breathe basketball, however, they are not always afforded the opportunity to play on organized teams and leagues due to the expenses. If given the opportunity, basketball could very well take many of our students to the next level of their education, in high school and college. Help us give our students the tools they need to be successful this basketball season.
My Project
This project will supply our basketball team, with the gear they need to succeed this season! We are building three teams of middle school players in order to create community, build positive relationships, new friendships, and a strong team! To do so to the best of our ability we need new tennis shoes to help motivate our players.
Your donation will not only support our students as they excel outside of the classroom and on the basketball court, it will also assist the Coaches in teaching necessary life skills.
Teamwork, motivation, perseverance, and the joy of sports, to name a few.
