Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a 7th-8th Grade 12:1:1 Special Education teacher in a specialized public middle school in the South Bronx for Students with Disabilities, where 91% of student receive free or reduced priced lunch. My class consists of 12 students who are heartwarming and have a love of learning! My students have learning disabilities that range from Autism to Emotional Disturbance. My students benefits from having scaffolds and supports for their learning.
My students and their families have heavily been impacted personally and economically.
Covid-19 effected many families and students and students are still impacted by this issue to this day! Many parents are unable to provide the resources that their child needs for the upcoming school year. I want to ensure that my students will receive the essential school supplies in order to continue their love for learning.
I want to be able to support the needs of my students with learning materials in any way I can. The items will allow my students to have materials both at home and in the classroom. These hands-on materials and supplies will help further their thinking. My students will benefit from having these markers, headphones, and other materials to support their organizational needs as well as having supplies to engage in the classroom!
Students with disabilities need multiple supports to help them engage in their learning both at home and in the classroom.
I want my students to engage in learning experiences without feeling ashamed or left out that they do not have supplies. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will fundamentally help to increase their academic achievement and success.
