Shhhhhhh!!! It's Our Secret!

My students need a netbook, so they can take tests and read books with the assistance of technology because they are struggling readers in special ed.

My Students

The secret is that we are struggling readers and can't read on our grade level. When we have to take a test, we may know "our stuff", but because we can't read the questions, we make bad grades. Our teacher helps us take the test on the computer by recording it on the computer.

My students have been identified with learning disabilities.

Reading is one of the areas they struggle in the most. I can pre-record a test for them and they can take it on the computer,in my classroom. Their classmates do not realize what is really going on. They only get to see the good grades they are getting.

My Project

A netbook will allow one more student to be actively engaged in testing, with the other students. It will allow them to be tested on the content, and not on their ability to read the content. It will also provide an additional learning resource in the classroom.

As you know school funds are very limited.

I have more students, than computers. So, I always have one or more student that doesn't get to finish their test, because their time has run out in resource, and we didn't have a computer for them to use. Do you know how it feels to have to pick who will not get to take their test on the computer today? Its not fun!
