My students need storage furniture and book display to clearly define boundaries. It would be a big help if I could use the shelves to cordon off more learning centers for my kiddos.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is a group of mixed age (2 to 5 years old) students with varying abilities, interests, and talents! I have 6 children with developmental delays and 2 children who each have an autism diagnosis. My kiddos are bright little learners who love to learn new things. Some children are learning letter sounds while others are getting to know sight words. Some are beginning to learn how to communicate their needs to others using assistive technology. Each one brings something special to our class!
My Project
The storage furniture and book display units that I am seeking will make a positive impact on our classroom environment. While I have ample space to store items that we are not using out of sight in my classroom closets, I do not have furniture available to define spaces in the classroom effectively. As this is my first year teaching (and I inherited this classroom from another teacher), I have had to pull together what has been available for free or at very inexpensive cost (mostly free).
Defining boundaries is important for my kids as they sometimes have difficulty with ideas that are not concrete such as tape on the floor to signify the boundaries of our dramatic play area.
The furniture I have listed will allow me to better define centers so that the children can play with fewer distraction from other activities in the classroom, allowing them to focus on their learning goals and ultimately achieve more academically. Thank you for your time!
