The storage furniture and book display units that I am seeking will make a positive impact on our classroom environment. While I have ample space to store items that we are not using out of sight in my classroom closets, I do not have furniture available to define spaces in the classroom effectively. As this is my first year teaching (and I inherited this classroom from another teacher), I have had to pull together what has been available for free or at very inexpensive cost (mostly free). Defining boundaries is important for my kids as they sometimes have difficulty with ideas that are not concrete such as tape on the floor to signify the boundaries of our dramatic play area. The furniture I have listed will allow me to better define centers so that the children can play with fewer distraction from other activities in the classroom, allowing them to focus on their learning goals and ultimately achieve more academically.
