My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty school, my students come from all backgrounds and have faced many challenges. Many of my students struggle with reading and being able to focus on what they are reading.

I teach 6th graders to dive into books in hope to escape to places they only dream about

My students have so many distractions in their daily lives and I cannot change that. However, I can control the distractions in my classroom. I love how my students talk to each other about a great book they have read.

My Project

I strive to have an abundance of books for my readers to choose from. I need a place to display the books to help with selecting the just right book to read. These bookcases will continue to help enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really treat with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. I teach at a high-poverty school and my students need access to books that can take them anywhere they want to go in life. With these new bookcases my students will see a variety of books that will spark their love of reading.
