Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Most of my students love to read and write! We often write in small group or independently. Many times they long to know more about a topic they've become interested in. Sometimes in writing, they just can't find the right word to use to make their writing more colorful. Alexa would be a great tool to help us expand our knowledge of topics and give us more words to use when writing!

My class makeup is a mixture of regular and special education students.

Many of my students come from homes where a parent currently works multiple jobs to make ends meet. Our school has a large military family population as well as civilian workers. One thing that unites us all is our love for a good story.

My Project

Having an Alexa Echo Dot will help spark that desire to learn more! Some of my special education students have difficulty spelling words when writing, which makes it difficult to look up a word to see how it is spelled. Others struggle with knowing the meaning of some of the text that they read. Imagine how much they can learn if they are able to ask Alexa Echo Dot how to spell or define a word. Imagine how much more vivid our writings can be with Alexa helping us with colorful synonyms. With Alexa Echo Dot in our room, there's no limit to what we can learn!
