Sharp Pencils & Snacks Allow Students to Sharpen Their Minds

My Project

My high school students have busy lives, so keeping track of pencils and keeping them sharpened can be difficult. The old built-in pencil sharpener in our classroom is in an awkward place and so old that it needs to be replaced by a more efficient electric sharpener. Available school funds cannot keep up with the demand for pencils in each classroom, and my students can't do many assignments without one.

If students are to make the best use of class time each week, they need supplies and sustenance to keep them alert and learning.

Some students miss breakfast and do not have snacks to bring from home, so having a classroom snack stash helps students who need to worry about their assignments more than about their growling stomachs. Our classroom library is also in need of a new shelf to house heavier non-fiction books for students to check out.
