I teach in an area where over 50% of my students have free and reduced lunch. I work with a population that is transient and often lost in the shuffle. I have ESL students from Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Africa, and other areas of the world. Many don't have the language or opportunity to share their stories. I want to give a voice to the many issues that they face. I want to help them put a human side to immigration; to embrace their cultures and share them with the world. I want them to have a voice and know that they can make a difference in the world by being themselves and sharing what matters to them. These kids are so strong, yet so vulnerable. They have such joy, even though they have seen so much pain. I want to help them achieve their dreams and let them see that anything is possible. Our school and area doesn't have a lot of money, but the teachers and students have a lot of heart and we want to share that through video.
