Sharp on Learning

Help me give my students an area to learn and provide a way to sharpen their tools to do so with a carpet and an electric pencil sharpener.

My Students

My students come from homes that do not have much to read- not even the back of a cereal box. They are very creative and love to have choices on how they learn. Besides the “choice” that they have in my class is about the only thing that they can control in their life. I am a very energetic teacher and am constantly moving around. I want my students to be able to have the choice on how they learn the best!

My Project

Carpet time is a daily thing for students to join me on the floor to eliminate the distractions of sitting at their desk. It allows the students to have a place and be able to know exactly where to go. The students will feel involved and the participation level from the class, as a whole, goes up.

The pencil sharpener is a critical piece, as the students do not have sharp tools to utilize in order to learn.

It also provides a way to build a community as the pencil sharpener would provide an opportunity for a class helper.
