This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Getting prepared for class"
My students are part of one of the largest public school district in Indiana.
They are also part of the most ethnically diverse group with many languages and different socio-economic backgrounds in the city of Indianapolis. Yet, these students with many unfortunate stories, are motivated to do the best they can. They have been taught that ‘We are Products of Our Expectations,” and they should expect the best of and for themselves.
My wish is to allow them the opportunity to be independent in the classroom.
In order to be prepared for class, my students need pencils, markers, and a sharpener that works,
My Project
As we continue into the New School Year, we realize that sharpening pencils take up a lot of valuable time, and markers dry out quickly. For many of them, acquiring the necessary supplies that make it easy to organize their work and projects is difficult.
With an electric pencil sharpener, markers and more pencils, less time will be used to get ready for work.

A good working pencil sharpener, markers and pencils, that will allow my students more time to do classwork instead of struggling with tools that do not work.
It is crucial that students worry less about supplies and more about their learning.
